Smart Stairs

In the fall of 2019, my team at Duke was tasked with creating a set of stairs for children at the Lenox Baker Children's Hospital in Durham, NC. 

The stairs feature: 

• an adjustable first step to simulate situations such as boarding a bus or climbing a standard stairwell

• a reward system consisting of four ultrasonic sensors and LEDs 

• steps that easily come apart for quick transport
